Review on πŸŽ’ High-Quality Osprey Packs Daylite Backpack: The Ultimate Choice for Real Backpacking Enthusiasts by Katie Pearce

Aether 85 Attachment

I bought this as the Aether 85 Attachment as a wet pack for day hikes away from base camp. As others have commented it is a hydropack. I will not use the side pockets for water bottles. Rather, they are used for wet objects such. B. a bathing suit after swimming. Haven't tested this hydropack in the field yet but will be taking it on a week long hike. I put 4 based on first impressions. I will report later. Fastening: The buckle/hook on the Daylite fits snugly into the bottom loops of my Ether, but the top loops feel a bit loose (too long?). It will stay in place because the ether has external straps running across it. But if I didn't have them I would just thread the Daylite side straps (buckle/hook) through the top ether loops just to be sure. That would probably be fine, but it's best not to risk it popping out while hiking. This is a minor issue with the ether loop, not a Daylite issue. Color: I bought Stone Gray Daylite hoping it will be close to Midnight Blue Aether. It's not perfect, but close enough not to be intrusive or annoying. I can live with it. Assembly: The quality is the same as my ether. Strong and durable material; high-quality seams, zippers and buckles. The hip belt is unpadded webbing, but it's an attachment set, so keeping the weight down is fine. The chest strap has a standard whistle in the buckle. Back lightly padded mesh for ventilation. And the shoulder straps are lightly padded. Again, this is an optional pack, so I don't need all the bells and whistles of the city pack. They seem to have reached the minimum level of comfort to fit into the lightweight hydropack category and still get a quality backpack. Fit: Pretty comfortable for tinkering around at home. Traveling with a backpack will be the proof. Hydro: The hydro battery pack barely fits in my 3 liter CamelBak reservoir. I like that the hydrocam pocket is outside of the main pocket of the pack and not inside. This makes filling easier without having to open the packaging. Also, there is a standard buckle bladder hook in the bag to fit any bladder brand.
