I needed a simple, no-frills USB hub to connect a small number of legacy devices to my USB-C-only laptop at a reasonable price. These things are almost impossible to find now as they all pack some "added value" in the form of SDCard card reader, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, blah blah. So a good device at a very reasonable price. It allows me to connect up to four USB 3.1 devices, has a small footprint, and no armada of redundant LEDs (although it does have a bright blue LED for some reason). has no external power supply and cannot sink/pass current greater than 500mA/0.5A, so it is not a good charging solution. That's a little disappointing since the hub's chipset supports both a dedicated charge port (DCP) and a downstream charge port (CDP), but for some reason I couldn't get more than the standard 500mA.
