Review on TORCHSTAR Selectable Dimmable Ultra Thin Available Lighting & Ceiling Fans by Van Masterson

I love the design of these lights; However, I am concerned about electrical safety. After about a month of good maintenance 2 of the 11 lights I had installed on my kitchen ceiling stopped working so I removed them and tested them. The lighting worked fine, but both J-Boxes smelled burned, so I took them apart. Each circuit board was badly burned in the same place. Revain put me in touch with Torchstar in California and they quickly shipped replacement J-Boxes which I installed. Works well. I asked Torchstar tech support to call me to discuss electrical safety but after a week they didn't answer me. I will of course watch them closely and only turn them on when I'm in the kitchen. If this happens again I will definitely report it to UL & CSA. I really like these lights and I hope it's just an anomaly. Updated 02/08/2020. The replacement J-Boxes and all the original hardware have been working great since the replacement so I will be purchasing another set for my office and later for my garage. The broken boxes must have been an anomaly.
