I have used this pet carrier to transport two kittens together to the vet and most recently I used it to transport a kitten to his new home which is 10 hours away. In both cases it worked fine. It opens and closes, which is great because I live in a very small house and don't have a lot of storage space. For assembly, both ends are clipped onto the base body. The end plates contain a wire frame and two wires running along the top corners of the main body of the bracket. There isn't one on the bottom, but when the padded bottom panel is attached with Velcro on the inside, the result is an incredibly durable carry. It's not as strong as a hard-wall stretcher, so don't place it where the sides or top can pinch. I installed it the day before I had to take the kittens to the vet, straight to this one. They used it to sleep and loved to play in it. One of the kittens got nervous in front of the vet and started scratching the web. There was no damage at all, which surprised me a lot because it sounded like he was tearing it up. The bottom panel has a removable zippered fleece cover so it can be removed for cleaning. There is a hard plastic panel along with a soft, stretchy foam panel at the top for comfort. I would say this is absolutely perfect for small to medium sized cats but if you have a heavy cat you may need to support the floor when carrying it. It's big enough, but I just don't know if it can hold a lot of weight.
