Very important! Ideal for camping/baby/pet/activities. Not elitist, but solid, presentable.

I bought 60 of these black washcloths to take with me on a 2 month trip I am planning. FOR THE PRICE they are better than I expected. After 37 years at Fieldcrest, making the towels I bought at a Carolina store on my way home from the Space Shuttle launch in 1983 my staple washcloths at home, would I still use them and look great? Probably no. But they are fully functional, look and feel decent and no longer flake after washing and drying 3-4 times before use. Especially when washing 60 at a time, the first load left a nice thick layer of lint, probably 3/8 inch thick, all over the lint dryer screen (old school Kenmore/Whirlpool), but wasn't anywhere near clogging or overflowing. The second charge was about 80% of this thickness. 3. Loading, covering about 20% and not the entire length of the screen. The fourth load is only about 10%, which I think is a reasonable amount to expect with actual use for the next few washes. So while I was expecting 5-6 wash/dry cycles, on the 4th the results showed that 3 would actually be enough. Pretty good in my opinion. The original black, like most towels, wasn't very black. After 4 washes the color is more gray but still comfortable and totally even, everything is still the same color. This works for me. I think I'll use a new pair every 2 days, one for showering and one for washing up and drying hands. Then they move on to dirtier cleaning jobs until I've had enough of the ones I don't need to make more cleaning wipes each day. Those who did the cleaning do not take the laundry out into the street, it is packed in bags and left to be washed when they return home. Whether or not I wash the cleaner showers/hands on the trip I'll wait and see, but my idea was to buy enough so I wouldn't be forced to. After the fourth drying I spent a little time checking them and arranging them neatly. I cut off 95% of each label, trimmed any loose threads (of which maybe 1 in 10 should have been trimmed) and checked for any bare spots and other major imperfections that were NOTHING. Pretty impressive on a cheap mass produced product. 4 trips through the washer and dryer didn't seem to result in the threads being pulled out or anything. The white labels looked fine when I peeled them off, so the slight color change from black to gray wasn't due to color bleeding and discoloration, just a small washout? Anyway, after 1 or 2 washes the dark seemed to stay in place and after 3 dryer lints the lint was pretty minimal afterward, similar to a normal load of clothes. For 60 new pictures!
