DOT legal? Not from the words of the cop who pulled me over.
Although bright, the low beam has a wide beam pattern with no distinct center or beam like a traditional low beam. Also this morning I was stopped by a police officer on my way to work (it was still dark) and he gave me a verbal warning about using the wrong headlights. I showed him the DOT mark on the headlight and he told me to get company papers proving DOT approval. Told me that if I was stopped again I would get a ticket and would need a DOT certificate to avoid the ticket or show it in court for the ticket to be charged. I think I'll return them and get something. On the other hand, I don't have to be stopped behind the headlights.
