Works well but poor thermal design for large write volumes.

I bought this to help transfer around 1TB of files to the SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB. I transferred about 1TB of photos from a portable drive to this drive. The transfer rate was limited by the portable drive, so I didn't test the case on that, but that makes the next point worse. Every 50-100GB, the device will shut down due to overheating to protect the Samsung drive. I ended up using a damp rag to reduce the heat generated by this unit and that seemed to help, but it still overheated from time to time. And I didn't write to disk at maximum speed. In everyday use of Photoshop and Lightroom from the disc everything works without problems. But the initial transfer of files caused excessive heat even at relatively low write speeds. Pros: - Installation was easy - Seems to be solidly built - Great for everyday use - Dual USB dongle which I thought would annoy me but was quite useful, at least in today's USB 2.0 world /3.0 is still common. Cons: - Overheats during intensive recording
