They are not as strong as other metal back scratchers. If you pull them out as far as they will go, they start to bend a lot. They seem to fall apart if you hold them in such a position that you scratch hard-to-reach places. One of the scrapers almost did not retreat from the extended to the stop. I don't know if it was a design flaw or not. The claw scratching post rotates when scratched. Which is very annoying when you itch! The back of the head "scratches” the itch instead of the claw part. So you have to keep turning your head towards the nail part to get a good scratch and real relief from the itch.
