A few years ago a friend gave me his walkie-talkie set and charging station as a gift. I mention the charging base because I believe that when walkie-talkies are charged in the base station, the batteries will wear out over time. We were able to turn on the radios, but as soon as we pressed PTT (push to talk), the radios immediately turned off. I suspected a battery problem but wasn't entirely sure. Two packs of these batteries cost $10, so I figured it was worth the risk. I could always return them if they don't fix the problem. I put them in (they look almost the same as the ones already in the walkie-talkie) and turned them on. We could press PTT and the radios stayed on! We now let the batteries fully discharge before putting them on the charger and remove them from the charger when they are fully charged so hopefully they will last longer. But $10 for 1-2 years for a set of radios is not a bad price at all. I will update this review if they let me down prematurely.
