Review on Efficient and Sturdy: Makita DS4000 2 Inch Drill Handle for Easy and Accurate Drilling by Rud Starks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exceptional quality drill bits, made in Japan (as of 2014)

Who said they didn't make them the way they used to be? This is an amazing exercise. I have many Milwaukee drills including the D Handle, Compact, Hole Hawg, Super Hawg, Magnum etc. They are all great drills and I love them. It really hurts me that Milwaukee is now making all these drill bits in China. When I wanted a new big drill, I bought this relatively new Makita drill. For those who care, the fit and finish is superior to any drill I've seen. It's all metal and durable. I don't know how Makita does it, but the thing runs very, very, very smooth and quiet. I think that says a lot about the precision manufacturing of gears, spindles and bearings. Some call it "working like a sewing machine". I totally agree. The rotating rear handle is really nice and comfortable. If I had any criticism it would be the forward/backward rocker which makes it really easy to switch between one direction and another without completely stopping. One of the biggest pluses for me is that this thing is made in Japan. The material things I own and am happiest/most impressed with seem to have been made in Japan. Japan knows what quality production is. Buy it, you will like it. Just like your grandchildren.
