Review on πŸ“€ Enhance Your Home Entertainment with Philips DVP3345VB DVD Player - Black by Srivatsan Oling

Bad VHS, okay DVD good for DVD players and recorders

Revain's product page doesn't mention that this Phillips player only plays VHS tapes over composite cables for your TV can play. This device is equipped with connectors/connectors for component, S-video and composite cables (no HDMI connectors). So component is the best available quality for this device. Composite cables are included. Even S-Video is better than Composite (our LG Smart TV doesn't have an S-Video port, so I couldn't test it). I called Phillips tech support and they confirmed that VCR playback doesn't work with component cables; only with composite cables. DVD and VCR picture quality is poor when connected to a TV with a composite cable. However, when connected to a TV using a component cable, DVD playback quality is satisfactory. By the way, the remote control is impressive (the only 2 reasons why I didn't give this device a 1 star). If your goal is high-quality VCR/VCR playback, don't buy this device unless you're willing to also buy a composite video to HTML converter ($28-$36).

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some issues
