When I bought these shelves I wanted to use them for extra books as my bookshelves were full. After mounting it on the wall, I tried hanging some books on it and found that they didn't penetrate as deeply. For ordinary paperbacks, about 40% of the book hangs down, and large hardcover books cannot be placed regularly, or they fall down because the book hangs down too much. However, they are perfect for mass-market paperbacks, and luckily I had a few books that would fit on the shelves. They're easy to install, decent quality, but consider how deep the bookshelves you're planning to place before you install them. .
