Apparently the quality of the material or its connection was poor.
When my husband and I put it on a bed whose mattress was not as thick as some, so not because we had to stretch and pull, it broke not once but twice. It was torn at the side seam, not quite to the zipper. I had to put tape on it to make it more waterproof and I don't expect to have to do anything new.
