Review on WEEDO X40 Auto-Leveling Mainboard: Enhanced Precision for 300x300x400mm Prints by Richard Lamptey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I hope it stays that way. I was concerned about other reviews

I was ready for the IDEX printer and only saw it in a few places online. They thought that was great. I was VERY skeptical, especially when I saw that it was a Kickstarter. But I took a chance when I saw this on Revain because I'm going to wrap this thing up IMMEDIATELY, it's starting to give me problems. After setting up the machine, I got really good prints. This is a moment to do. The initial setup took me about 4-6 hours. I've been playing around with the settings further, and the settings you select from "thin test blocks" (for aligning two nozzles) are backwards. I feel like it's very sketchy, but in the end it's very well aligned so it needs some work on the programming. But the prints are fine. I'm not a 3D printing veteran. I've been typing for about 5 years now using a tiny DaVinci Minimaker that I bought for my sons (but they never used). I have developed my own functional parts and modified parts. I'm an engineer and can be dangerous with 3D modeling tools, so I already have experience with this part of the 3D printing world. I don't use Cura and read that it sucks with X40 currently. Missing settings for others. I have a lot more customization options in the WiiBuilder software, so I'm not looking for anything else. The camera works and sends the video (no sound) to the phone app. I can't get the Wi-Fi or USB connection to work with the computer. I think it's a firmware or software issue. In any case. At the moment I use a mini SD card back and forth. I only used PLA (the two that came with the printer and the Hatchbox Black). I have PVA for complex printing and I will have PETG this week. PETG's higher temperatures bother me a bit, but the manufacturer told me it would work. I'm considering printing an extended fan cowl for the nozzle areas as I think it might help not to damage the heat shield like others have posted since the heater isn't constantly being cooled by the air moving upwards moves, and not just in the direction of the nozzle area. This is one of the few reviews I have written. If you're worried about this printer, then so am I. I have no idea how this thing will hold up and the reviews here aren't helping my confidence level. I'm just hoping I'm lucky or doing something right because my prints (single and double) look amazing. I'll update if this thing fails to the point where I need to return it or fails after the return window. .
