I've added what's left of my favorite coffee mugs that I've had for over 30 years. The originals came from one of the first pannikins in San Diego before Starbucks came along. It's not quite the same, but nostalgic vintage mugs that bring back memories of restaurants and cafes. My originals had even thicker ceramics and the beautiful imperfections of handmade mugs. (If anyone knows where to buy this type please message me). I especially like that they are thick, very heavy ceramic because once heated (or pre-warmed) they retain heat and keep the coffee warm for a long time. Those ubiquitous lightweight ceramic mugs seem to break very easily, and I'm pretty sure they won't. Also, I think it's a coffee mug, the equivalent of a cocktail served in one of those heavy, double, old-fashioned crystal glasses. The weight seems to amplify the experience. Form follows function. Easy. Nostalgia. Exactly what I like in a coffee mug. Two things to note. (1) They are not brilliant white, but almost white. It gives them an authentic look. (2) They have an indentation in the bottom that holds water when washed in the dishwasher. (If this is one of your many annoyances, consider putting Valium or Xanax on the bottom of your cup before pouring your coffee ;-). I will order more.
