Review on πŸ”Œ Black NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip - 30 LED by Adafruit [ADA1460] by Carl Mayes

Very cool DIY product

The product works as advertised. I had some concerns because I saw some comments about people having trouble getting it to work on a Raspberry Pi, but for me it worked like a champ. The instructions on the Adafruit website are very clear and include some code examples. A very simple programming interface is Python. I would recommend that you purchase a level converter IC like "74AHCT125" when ordering if you use it on RPi, as the product is really designed to work with 5V boards and RPi is 3.3V (You can't use the 5v pin from the Pi to power them). You will also need a good 5V power supply to power the high mA LEDs. I have a 12V DC power supply that I use with a buck converter to step it down to 5V to power both the RPi and the Neopixels and it works like a champ. Also keep in mind that you need to solder wires to the product to use it (this is indicated in the description). I had the wires already soldered on, but they weren't at the end I could use, so I just plugged mine in. I'm also running this on a Raspberry Pi Zero W if you're wondering if it's going to work or not.
