There aren't many things that compel me to write a review (good or bad). I have diabetes, but I try to lead at least a semi-sporty lifestyle. but that means shoes are an important decision for me. I'm also a designer and I try to present my own image in a few nuances. Diabetic/orthopedic (or whatever you choose to classify them) shoes are totally clumsy and made for the elderly who don't walk much. and really don't help me. I usually keep coming back to NewBalance, which has some decent options, but they're still lame and I get bored being happy with them. Due to my neuropathy, I also have many criteria when choosing new shoes. These Xero shoes hit every nail in one place and I absolutely love them. First, they look great. They are very thin so my feet don't look too big and the design is in the style of modern sportswear. I like that these models have a low ankle. They are light. It's almost like putting on another sock. Drop foot is one of my problems because I no longer have a heel reflex. That's the ideal weight. The main interior of the sole is a bit rough for me (but understandable given the better barefoot feel), but the extra insole that comes with it is perfect for my sole of the foot and doesn't take up much space. . Which brings me to the next criterion. Despite their slim appearance, they are very spacious. Nothing is compressed, which is the main source of some of my pain. My toes are free and there is no pressure on the instep. The outsole is perfectly balanced in protection and feel. I still remain as active as anyone with a full-time job. Mostly it's hiking and outdoor recreation if it's not too hot. These shoes allow me to run and feel the ground without sacrificing the protection needed to ward off pain from rocks and anything that gets in my way. I feel like I want to wear them to bed because they are so comfortable. My wife won't let me.
