I installed a new system for my gym/mancave and was keen to use Bose. I've sworn by Bose for 25 years, but after spending pennies on my gym I decided to compromise on the sound system (I thought). My setup is a 20 year old Yamama receiver with Polk PSW10 bass, S20 front speakers and S15 rear speakers. So this rating applies to all Polk speakers. Maybe it's just a different room, maybe it's a different setup, but these Polk speakers are absolutely killing my Bose AM10 system (with a brand new receiver). The bass hits the chest. You WILL FEEL it, and when you have it, your wife will tell you to give it up! I set the bass to neutral on the receiver and only 1/2 on the subwoofer. Overall, the sound is incredibly clear and crisp. And it's everywhere. Somehow it outperforms Bose's Direct/Reflect system by delivering consistent sound to every corner of the room. The sound really surrounds you, it doesn't come from there. So, you know, I highly recommend this system. If I had the money I would also replace my main theater system. With the S20 and S15 you *almost* don't need a subwoofer. Both produce enough bass that you can turn the bass down a lot and still have enough to rock the house. That's almost a minus point for me, since I've built my gym as far away from the bedrooms as possible and still get complaints! But overall, a fairly small speaker pumping out so much bass is really impressive. The only downside is that the speakers are large (compared to cubic speakers). They take up little space. They look crisp so they shouldn't ruin the look of the room, but you need to give these little ones some space. If you're up for it, don't pass by.
