Benefits: No permanent stand required. Excellent suction power on long drives, significant elevation changes (0-6000ft) and rain/snow. Low profile for safer garage access (my Yeti SB5 with the saddle lowered sits at 8'4" when mounted on my IS 350, allowing access to most indoor garages with 8'10" ceiling height). Cons: When I first got this thing in the mail, I washed the car and put a band-aid on the spot where the suction cups will be. Without a clean painted surface, this bike rack is utterly useless. Installing my bike safely in a car is as follows: Spray the suction surface with deionized water, wipe with a microfiber cloth, pay attention to the edges of the paint and suction cup, spray paint with plenty of deionized water and vacuum. Do not spray directly onto suction cups. This will cause excessive wear on the pump mechanism and will most likely seize immediately during pumping. I use deionized water because I hate water stains on my black car; More importantly, water marks are three-dimensional marks on the surface of your clear coat. Therefore, the appearance of water stains on the transparent coating will significantly reduce the suction time. So for my purposes this system is worth it. You can only trust him as much as you can trust your own judgment. So I'm giving this thing 1 out of 5 stars for its versatility. My process is methodical and I am very knowledgeable about the health of my clear coat and suction cups. In other words, if you wash your car with dish soap or wipe it down with a beach towel, or if you don't know what deionized water is, then I would suggest that you move on to a more durable trunk solution.
