Review on Bamboo Desktop Bookshelf With Drawers - Office And Home Organizer For Books, Supplies, And Decor by Chris Reddick

A solidly mediocre and versatile countertop storage solution.

I read the reviews of this little desktop bookshelf and after trying to find measurements, I figured it would be a decent storage nook for my extremely small kitchen. The hardware for the drawers includes brads that are indeed very sharp, so I bent the tips back with pliers and gently tapped them down into the bamboo with a hammer. That was the most difficult part of the assembly. The handles are very sturdy, and the design of them is cute. The bamboo quality overall is incredibly poor and it splinters easily, so be careful. I was reluctant to spend this kind of money on something that was clearly this cheap, but it was otherwise perfect for what I needed, so I decided to try it anyway. Fortunately, the only part that split was the small bracket bar that runs across the top in the back. I have filled the crack with wood glue and faced it away. The screws are black, not steel colored. Many holes are crooked but the pieces went together fine. I don’t mind the extra holes, since I can put s-hooks into them and hang things on them. The depth of the shelves is actually 7”, or 7.5” if you don’t subtract the width of the brackets across the back. The larger cubby, where I assume you’d put books, is just under 12”h x 12”w x 7”d.Each drawer is 5.5” wide, 5.8” deep, and just under 2” high inside. They’re perfect for tea!The smaller cubby above the drawers is 3.5”h x 6.5”w x 7”d.Anyway, I don’t regret buying this, but it shouldn’t have been $50. I would have felt better if I had spent $30-$40 on it. If you get it, make sure you have a small, heavy hammer and some wood glue on hand.
