
There was a little residue around the edge (tiny drop of nickel) and although most processors now have spreaders I don't risk transferring a bad beat as there is no contact. I just took a flathead screwdriver to take it off and sand down the entire surface. It helped align, it seems the block wasn't quite even as it should be for a vpus with HS (for example, where the chip is sealed with a metal cap). You can reuse your existing backing board, just use the screws provided. The figure shows that this is not correct. The bolts go to the butt plate first (shorter threads), then to the block, then to the washer and spring and tighten the nut, hand tighten only.
