Review on 🎡 Swiss Crafted Burgundy Leather Turntable Mat - Premium USA Made Platter Mat by Robert Yates

Lower quality but better sound

The edges of my rug are slightly wavy or more like a hump that you can see as it rotates. I'm not sure if this has an impact as most of my vinyl has more bumps than mats. With a little pressure it lays down evenly. I've been looking for something that matches the thickness of the Rega felt and this is a bit thicker. I also bought Jake's Matt. Jakes is more attractive and very soft and comfortable to hold. Jake's is a little thicker than this. Does it matter how he feels? In terms of sound, my first audition on the Rega Planar 1 went to Mate Hudson. A stiffer and slightly thinner mat provides less cushioning. It's subtle, but I think the Jakes actually provide too much damping, resulting in losses in the high-mids and highs. I think the Rega turntable can be more picky than other turntables when it comes to the sonic impact of mats. You may prefer a slightly thicker rug. For now I will try to live with a lower quality piece of leather because I believe it offers a nicer sound effect. Whether you're considering leather or cork, there's no way to tell which will sound better in your system. I have to say that laying a piece of vinyl on a leather carpet that I can't describe gives me an odd pleasure.
