I just bought three of these for my three cars. I've had fairly expensive ProClip branded combo solutions (both a dedicated car mount and a dedicated phone mount) and I really like the ProClip solution, but (1) it's ridiculously expensive and (2) it only allows you to use one phone. . I share cars with my wife and two sons who just started driving, and the four of us all have (very) different phones. So the rest of my family has to look at (but not use) a dedicated phone mount for my Nexus 6 phone while their phones occupy the cup holder or slide on the dash etc. Not anymore! The good news is that my investment in ProClip is not wasted as I can still use custom car mounts with this Arkon phone holder. In fact, I use the same screw holes and even the same screws (instead of the included nuts and bolts which can come loose). The Arkon was my favorite phone mount and I used their extended gooseneck that bolted to the base of the seat. Like ProClip, Arkon have made mounts for specific phone models (I had one for my Palm Treo 755p), but luckily this mount is universal and fits a variety of phone sizes. Now every member of my family who drives a car can use the phone mount. Using this phone holder is very easy and on most phones you can place your phone in it with one hand/swipe. On my huge Nexus 6 phone, the slide clamp is almost at its limit, so I usually place the phone in the holder with both hands to avoid stressing the ball joint. I have read several reviews that the ball joint on this holder loosens over time and cannot be tightened, so I try not to adjust/shift the position of the holder too much while tightening the ball joint. The holder's "nubs" are so small that it can be held by any phone, regardless of the position of the buttons on the sides of the phone. The "cleats" are also rubberized so they hold a phone very well even without a skull. Time will tell how long it lasts (especially the ball joint) but so far I'm really liking it. It's a much better (and much cheaper) solution than ProClip, which forces you to pick a specific phone model, or at least a pretty specific phone size, that can't vary much and doesn't spontaneously adapt to other phone usage. I still think ProClip vehicle mounts are the best, but this Arkon phone mount is the best phone mount (at least for me) to mount on dedicated ProClip vehicle mounts.
