Review on Unleash Audio Excellence with the Marshall Emberton Bluetooth Portable Speaker by David Epps

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Emberton, JBL Flip 4 and Bose Soundlink 2

Indoor: Each block sounds different depending on where it is placed. For the Emberton, this sounded too bassy in most places, and the mids and highs sounded dull as a result. The Bose also sounded too bass-heavy, but flatter in the mids and highs. The high frequencies in particular sounded great indoors. In certain indoor locations, Bose's sound could be the most consistent, but only when he was directly in front of the speaker. The JBL Flip 4 didn't have as low a frequency response as the others, but there was more clarity in the mids and the sound was more stereo. Indoors, the Flip 4 sounded too bass-heavy in most cases (I don't mean deep bass, I mean mid-bass). Emberton sounded like one of the best when placed in the middle of the room. Outdoors: The Emberton was definitely the loudest, had the most bass, sounded best outdoors, and had the best bass response and volume. In some cases, the bass again drowned out the mids and highs. I liked the JBL Flip 4 outdoors for its stereo sound and clarity of mids and highs, but the bass doesn't extend as deep as the other 2. The Bose didn't sound all that great outdoors (worst of the 3 outdoors) and sounded which is best indoors in certain situations. The outdoor Bose also didn't fare well when not standing directly in front of the speakers, while the other 2 can get a pretty good response from different angles. In terms of volume and bass, the Emberton outperformed the other two but didn't have the stereo space or clarity of mids and highs that the JBL had.

Pros
  • EXCELLENT SIGNATURE SOUND: Rich, clear and loud, just as the artist intended. Emberton uses True Stereophonic, Marshall's unique form of multi-directional sound. Enjoy absolute 360-degree sound where every point pleases. By emphasizing the spatial content of stereo recordings, the Emberton produces sound well beyond its size and outperforms most speakers in its class.
Cons
  • Some issues
