This is the third device I have ordered to convert 1080p input to 1080i output. The other 2 didn't work even though they posted that 1080i is supported. My cable box outputs 1080i so I never had a problem until I decided to "cut the cable". This device worked for the first time, converting the HDMI output of a Sony STR-DH550 (connected to a Roku 3 and a Sony Blueray player). DTV input output from a Mitsubishi 65" projection TV (which still works like new). By the way, "cut the cable" isn't as easy a task as I thought, but I had a Roku3 and decided to give it a try and just using the internet (200Mbps spectrum) and using YouTube TV as my streaming service.I have several other TVs at home and bought a Roku Express ($24 at Revain) for them as they already support 1080p. Also I upgraded my home phone to Magic Jack for $40 a year I save about $150 a month Let me know if you need any help.
