The device is delivered partially assembled, which is normal. The problem is finding the right hex heads to fit the inside of the bolts. This unit requires three different sizes for some reason, luckily I had two and was able to fit one in a star configuration with no problems. The bolts "screws" are only lightly inserted when the unit arrives. If you take them off and try to turn your back, they just go the way they were when they arrived. I had to screw them in from the back to get the threads right, and then back in again. It's so dense that there are metal shavings everywhere. Again, not a big deal, it's just hard to figure out when you hold it up against a bike. This would be a lot easier if the screws weren't round but allowed a socket instead of digging through those three different hex lugs. So the device is on the back and it works. It's very durable, I didn't have to put rubber or fabric under the metal, it won't go anywhere. My frustration came from the nature of the screws and the fact that you can't screw them in and risk stripping the threads. Looks great on the bike and easy to lower/raise.
