They are definitely heavier than the standard $1-2 loofahs you can buy at your local supermarket. The extra weight seems to come from more mesh rather than thicker material. This is good because it makes a much better foam than the 'premium' loofah which gains extra weight due to the thickness of the material. I've been using mine for two weeks now and it hasn't started falling apart. I expect they will last at least a month.
