I installed this light in the rear trunk lid of a 2019 Toyota Hylander. I routed the wire to the worthless trunk side light. Connected according to instructions. Works great and works as described. Keep in mind this is a foreign made car and the ground wire worked for me. The tricky part was detaching the inner panel to run my own cables through. It was work all day, but the useful lighting in my trunk was worth it. Shame on Toyota for removing a lightbulb that was in the right place on previous models. PS There was a flat spot where the light needed to be to install this light.
