Review on Libratone Zipp Wifi Bluetooth Smart Speaker Home Audio by Mike Davan

I needed the best sounding speaker for our kitchen and was looking for a portable bluetooth speaker. After the initial frustrations of buying multiple brands and returning it, I had a moment of insight as I pondered why I hadn't considered buying an Airplay-enabled speaker (I live in an Apple household). Airplay does not compress the signal like Bluetooth does. I started my research on Airplay speakers and saw some recommendations for Libratone ZIPP. I ordered one from Revain, it took me less than 5 minutes to set it up for my network and damn I couldn't believe the sound coming out of this speaker. Launched the IOS application, said there was a firmware update and if I wanted to install it. Of course I said "YES" and after 4 seconds reported that the update failed. Researched for hours followed by the recommendations on the Libratone website to no avail. I emailed Libratone support and they told me the speaker is defective. Libratone is a very well known company in Europe but now I think I spent a decent amount of money on this speaker and the one they sent me was defective? I liked the sound of the speaker, but a firmware bug put me in a bad position and I didn't want to give up this speaker. I contacted the North American marketing representative and they put me in touch with their support department. They were very helpful. Instead of sending the Revain speaker back they offered to order a replacement and mail it to me with updated firmware, including a prepaid mailer to send the original back. I was so impressed that I ordered a second speaker. The next day I got a call from the support team and they said they really had a problem with the speaker and were talking to the developers. and a few days later I was contacted to say that they found a problem with the IOS application and the developers are working on a solution. In the meantime they were able to update the firmware using the Android app and send me a replacement. I have to say that the Libratone support is top notch. They've kept me updated, replaced my speakers with updated firmware speakers, and have updated the IOS app at least twice since the issue started (not just fixed issues, but added functionality). So. I've had these speakers for a few months now and I can only say. If you like the sound of 1 speaker. It's incredible to have two speakers in the same room. You are completely immersed in incredible sound. I am very satisfied and can only recommend these speakers.
