We did the whole trash bag trick in the diaper pail, but then our baby started eating solid foods and the stench filled the back of our house. We have a diaper spirit and these pockets are perfect and I think they give you more pockets than the original fillers. (I could usually get 3-4 diaper sausages from diaper fillers, these give me 4-5 sausages on a regular basis and I might have gotten 6 at one point.) It definitely helped hold in the stink better than garbage bags. I use it with Ninja Mama charcoal deodorant which helps a lot. I think they make a good team together. Once you take it out and seal it I don't notice much of an odor. It's great and a good price for the amount you get.
