I have one in the office. One cord is portable, another in the office for charging phones, and one in the bedroom for charging Kindles. When the magnetized ends come together, they snap into place. It is impossible to connect them incorrectly. To release with a slight jerk, the magnetic field is interrupted. The charging port on the Kindle became very weak and would shut down at the slightest touch. The insert was installed and held in place with hot glue. If I continued to use the USB port without the insert, I would not be able to charge the Kindle. The phone charging ports were still fairly new, so the stakes are holding up. The LED also acts as a mini night light. Good product. Treating with common sense ensures a long life. Don't let your dog chew ;-)
