Gorgeous colour, perfect grit, my favorite saltwater primer

I love this stuff, it's been my favorite for over a decade - great colour, perfect grit, no dust no fine grit. Things to consider when ordering. Firstly you may need more weight compared to the substrate supplied dry as some water weight wouldn't matter much in a small tank but it can add up to an extra bag. in a large tank that uses several. Second, you probably don't want to wash it, as that defeats the purpose of transporting it wet with salt water, ready to pick up good bacteria when you soak it in fresh water to rinse it out. It is not known how long it will take for the balance to be restored. It's claimed to contain living bacteria - one can only guess how many are still alive after it's been in the bag for a long time, but it's certainly a lot more receptive than dry sand. If you use it on cichlids it doesn't, fuck the fuck wash it out, they dig a lot and you want all that pretty stuff gone. I put an Aquaclear filter in the tank, just fill it with sponges and each time the tank is completely clean I gently mix the sand so the fine particles either settle to the bottom or float into the water. After a few days I can stir it without clouding the water and that way I know that for the life of the tank I can gently mix the sand without fear of it clouding up for several days. If you don't mind changing it a few times a day, you can speed up the process by placing filter floss over a sponge to create a thinner filter layer.
