LOVE THE SAND for aquarium substrate

LOVE THE SAND! except for the owner of the axolotl, this sand is very difficult to keep clean! It's great because it's so good it doesn't hurt them, but it's so good it can be hard to clean. However, this should also be taken into account for all sands.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • Nothing here

Fine beach sand

This sand is almost identical to that found on Destin Beach, Florida. It's absolutely beautiful and I'm very happy with it. It is also convenient to plant plants in it. It's as close to white sand as you can get! I used about 9 pounds in my 5 gallon aquarium as I needed a deep layer of substrate.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Available in black only

Replaced gravel with sand <3

This brand of sand is really good, I'm over 20lbs. Things just sit on top so they're very easy to vacuum, but they pick up some sand, which is to be expected. My fish love it and eat leftover food with no problem. I recently switched from gravel to sand and it's a lot easier to maintain and a lot better than gravel in my opinion. Won't go on gravel again!

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Actually what I wanted.

Bought 6 bags for my 55 gallon tank (don't need that many for a 55). The sand washed away quickly and with minimal effort. The use of transparent bags enabled water purification within 20 minutes. This is a great substrate for my snapping turtle. He likes to bury himself completely and that gives him security. Sand is also great for the crabs that I have, it provides a substrate for them to move around on and form their own little skins. I have no complaints.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Can't remember

The sand is beautiful but too fine

This sand is beautiful and so soft my catfish loved it. , but it's really fine, like powdered sugar, and if you have a strong or even medium current aquarium, then this sand is not for you. The sand never settles giving your water the appearance of a thin white haze and is worse when your light is on. When bottom feeders/measles cats dig through the sand, it flows to the surface and into the water and doesn't settle like the substrate should. Current flow to the point of no current flow to…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.

This was the worst sand I could buy for my aquarium. 🐟 I used to buy torpedo sand of this brand and I really liked it! It was finer than aquarium gravel but still more like a natural sandy habitat for my fish. I don't know why I thought Moonlight Sand would compare, but I was very disappointed. This sand is more of a fine dust that makes the water cloudy and somewhat gritty. And this even after several days of waiting for reassurance and using a powerful filter with double polishing pads. I…

Beautiful silky sand!

I have been using this sand exclusively for My Aquasol in all my freshwater aquariums for years. It's great, easy to clean if you take good care of your gravel vacuum. Simply swivel gently with a little pressure and all droppings and food residues are immediately sucked up. When I first started using this many years ago, I followed the instructions on how to put it in a bucket and rinse, rinse, rinse and that's how I lost so much sand. What I've had great success with over the last few years is

Pros
  • Nice packaging

  • Some disadvantages

Natural sand is great for your fish! UPDATE

I wanted to put sand in two tanks, one with rocks and one with gravel, and my Cory Dor Albino didn't have any sand! They love sand, and sand doesn't hurt their little waves and whiskers, so I just added it to the front and created a sand track for them. I wanted nice white sand and this one looked brown. I put it up for return but decided to use it as my little Cory really needed it so I canceled the return and I'm so glad I did. After washing it and putting it in the aquarium, it looks very…
