I have been using this sand exclusively for My Aquasol in all my freshwater aquariums for years. It's great, easy to clean if you take good care of your gravel vacuum. Simply swivel gently with a little pressure and all droppings and food residues are immediately sucked up. When I first started using this many years ago, I followed the instructions on how to put it in a bucket and rinse, rinse, rinse and that's how I lost so much sand. What I've had great success with over the last few years is turning off the filter to reduce water flow by sticking it in a very, very clean soda bottle that's empty with a funnel. Lift the fillet 3/4 and gently drain the water as you place it in the aquarium. Once the water is in and has settled a bit, get up close and personal to the areas you want to spray it on. Gently shake it into these areas and it will cover nicely. The bed water clarifier works well but takes a few days to become crystal clear again. After it has spread to the bottom of the aquarium, wait five minutes and then turn the filter back on. I have never lost a filter or fish using this method. Smooth beautiful sand with a high rating. This is the best sand I have ever felt, almost feels like silk on my fingers.
