UPDATE 11/09/2016: Two years later the strike failed. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found that the L bracket that holds the magnetic magnet in place in the impactor body broke right at the bend. The mount is pan or zinc and I can't fix it. I may have to make a new bracket. I run Makerspace and have access to the hardware to do this, but most people will be forced to buy a new latch. And the price has gone from $40 when I bought it two years ago to $90 now! They may have updated the design, but I'm reducing my rating to one star. According to the impact label, it is rated for 250,000 cycles. To reach that number, we would have to open the door more than 300 times a day. We will reach a maximum of 50 times a day. *Initial review* I built an RFID access system using this and an Arduino. There are a lot cheaper but that was for our doorstep and I think you get what you pay for. It has been running 24 hours a day for two months and has no problems. This is one of the few modes that can be set to failsafe or failsafe. I set it to emergency. This means that if there is a power failure, the door will be opened. In this mode, the electromagnet is always energized. When the access card is scanned and the system commands the lock to be opened, you can hear a distinct "click" and people know the door is unlocked.
