Review on Enhanced Trailer Coupler and U-Lock: Trimax UMAX50D Universal Dual Purpose by Terrance Singletary

I received the lock today and my first impression was "This lock is a beast!" It's hard work in every way. There are two distractions in this castle. I opened the package and immediately saw LOTS of rust spots on the U-lock. Apparently the Chinese haven't perfected their electroplating. It really pissed me off. After this happened I proceeded to install the lock in place. Another disappointment. Because this is a general purpose hitch, the check ball that fits into the hitch ball is significantly smaller than my 2 5/16 hitch. Therefore, when the Trimax is fully locked, there is significant play. So much so that it seems a cheap crowbar from Harbor Freight can pick the lock without too much trouble. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to return the Revane. I bought the lock to give a relatively strong deterrent to thieves. In its current form it's a slight deterrent and my trailer is just as vulnerable to theft as it was when I put a combination lock on my hitch. Trimax, I'd love to hear from you!
