Some things that sound too good to be true are just that

This is NOT the only deal where you buy a SIM and get the same amount in credit once you activate. And some other companies offer even better deals. But that is not a good way to pick a cellular service. Still, I decided to give them a try and my SIM could not be activated. I got an error message that said they would not activate my SIM because I already had several activations using the same credit card. That was not true at all. I have never used SpeedTalk and moreover, I rely on Google Voice and so I don't have ANY activated SIMS. The last time I activated a SIM was with another provider years ago.So, I emailed SpeedTalk who told me that I had several activations and they would therefore I would need to send them -- via unsecure email -- my credit card Information. When I responded that my card was fine and this was the 1st time I ever tried to activate any SIM/number with them, SpeedTalk was quite curt and told me either email credit card info or I could deal with Revain but that they would quite simply do nothing. That was their response. On the positive side, I got three emails from them in less than 15 minutes. But they were SO unhelpful (i.e., they explicitly refused to do anything or to engage or to explain) and so curt (not precisely rude, just short emails saying, in sum and substance "sucks to be you - not my problem") that even if they had solved the activation issue, I would not ever use SpeedTalk. There are too many other options out there. Heck, most of them you can even buy here on Revain - which I did not even know until now - I thought if I want to try USMobile or Mint or whoever, I need to contact those companies for a SIM, or to see if I can activate a phone via eSim but most if not all of them sell their SIMS on Revain seemingly all with deals like free minutes etc. So, I will try someone else and while I am sure some people will be able to use SpeedTalk right away, knowing that they have without a doubt the worst customer service imaginable, why would you?

Pros
  • Easy activation process
Cons
  • The billing system is not clear
