As you press, the sponge absorbs more paint and you get paint on the ceiling. Roll gently along the ceiling line until the paint no longer applies to the wall. Move in one direction. don't go back Don't put too much paint on the pad. It will soak the sponge and you will get paint on the ceiling. Each time you remove the pad from the wall, make sure the tool is clean before reapplying. This probably works best on flat walls, but I've used it successfully on textured drywall. Just go slow and don't push too hard!
