I have missed the magnetic power connector from older macbooks so when I saw this, I was very excited that it could be a possibility with my new macbook pro. Not only does this work with power, but it also works with data. I often switch between work and personal laptops with a dock and if this could be used on both, it would be perfect for my everyday use!However, there is one major issue that is leaving me wanting more. The magnet in this connector, while still quite powerful, is not enough to offset modern thunderbolt cable thickness, causing the connector to often fall out or loose connection. With just a little more magnetism, this would be perfect and I would have a solution to my everyday needs.The good points on this are:- There is a power indicator light when it's connected- It's fairly low-profile and doesn't need to be removed when stashing in a backpacktl;dr - Works great, if the laptop will be in a stationary position, but otherwise, the connector magnet is still a little too weak for most thunderbolt cables.
