The airflow indicator side marker is only on the side of a filter. So if you use one with markings, you have to guess the second one. It's okay, but you have to be careful. Removing the one that should then slide to the right is difficult to remove without damaging it as there is nothing to hold on to. This is important if you're just trying to verify condition and not actually replacing. You can create your own tongue by taping it on and pulling it up.
