The first pot I received showed early signs of rust so I sent it back and replaced it. The second pot lasted longer before showing rust so I just kept using it. Now after a couple of years the rust is actually flaking off leaving debris in the water. Now it's garbage, unfortunately in a landfill, ugh. And no, I never washed the pot, I kept it clean and avoided scratches, I washed it with a soapy sponge and water. I would avoid this model and possibly the brand altogether as I assume the problem is the cheap use of stainless steel.
