I am a master electrician with a Class A TACL license and have been using meters for 20 years. This gauge is really good, but it has an odd quality of throwing out random numbers when testing dead circuits. I had to carry about 2 meters around with me for the first few months of owning this thing. I didn't trust that due to the random number generation in AC voltage test mode. I've searched for tech support or other owners of this thing but haven't found much. The unstable nature of this meter in voltage test mode takes some getting used to. Sometimes when it detects the actual voltage, the light will flash and the beep will sound, but this handy feature requires a certain voltage to work. The field piece may have always been made this way. In the tester days I always used Fluke, Ideal and even SQ D WAY. They show "0" volts when there is no power to the circuit under test. The field fragment reads whatever it wants to create, which poses a problem when I'm using this thing to protect against injury, death, and equipment damage. Except for this REALLY weird feature that I really like. If someone knows something I don't know, I welcome feedback. Maybe I'm missing something.
