Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Travoy: Unleash Convenience with the Compact Folding Cargo Bike Trailer by Javarie Malick

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good idea, but badly designed.

Advantages: Easy to use. Easy to assemble. On flat terrain with light loads, it is sufficient and behaves well. The trailer attaches easily to a Brompton folding bike and works well. When folded it is small. Cons: 1) Hubcaps fall off very easily, especially on tight turns, and you're more likely to lose them. You will then be left with two metal tabs that you must press to remove the wheel from the trailer. The wheel cover on my trailer fell off twice but I was lucky to find it. 2) The mechanism that allows you to fold part of the trailer for storage stops working after a while. This is fixable but you will need to open the assembly. Search the internet to find out how to solve the problem. This takes some work and involves purchasing an adhesive that dries to a solid state and filling some of the channels in the assembly with it. 3) Trailer parts look cheap and have weak points. An example of the folding knot mentioned above. 4) They claim it can carry around 60lbs but that is misleading as 40lbs should be put in one part of the trailer and the other 20 in another space. You will then need to step on the scale to determine if the weight is properly distributed, as having more than 8 pounds of weight vertically downward at the point of contact with the seat post is not recommended. To meet the condition, you need to step on the scale twice and do a subtraction. In many cases it is not possible to distribute the weight as required, even if you are loading less than 60 pounds. 4) When laden you should not exceed 5 mph downhill and the recommended top speed on level ground is 15 mph. .5) Driving over rough terrain is not recommended. So forget trails that aren't perfectly smooth. Despite the downsides, I decided to keep the trailer as I use it to tow a dinghy to the launch site. The benefit of being able to wade through means I can take it with me on the raft at the destination, as can my folding bike. Why won't this website let me post this review? Not funny.
