We bought the non-HD version fairly cheaply to learn how to fly. And this thing was great for falling out of the sky and flying again. I chose the HD version as the original's camera is awful. This little guy doesn't really like the wind because of the guards. But it's important to know that your girlfriend can put it out of reach at high altitude, and if it falls somewhere, it will probably still work. A great drone for beginners that might be cumbersome for advanced users. oh, and this model had a headless one, while the original didn't. That alone is worth it. Edit: So if this drone strays too far from the receiver, it will just fly towards you. We had one and the drone fell into the only water in the entire park we were flying in. He was kind of floating. Not sure if that's intentional, but this one floats. The light was still on, so I grabbed it and immediately disconnected the battery. after a few hours of drying, we quickly tested the system at home and it worked straight away. Just got back from a flight after 2 batteries with no problems and the video is still working great in fact. Highly recommend for novice pilots looking for something durable.
