Hard to beat $30 headphones

Edit: Maybe one in five times I use them I get a burning headache, almost a migraine. I think it's because they have two drivers in their headphones - the main driver and one for noise reduction. This further confirms that it doesn't give me a headache with ANC engaged. First off, these headphones are the real deal. If you are about to fly and need headphones urgently, stop reading this review and click buy now. For thirty bucks it's heavy and well built. They are great for one time use and will soon surprise you for the long haul. Let's get down to the details. When you read the list of all the features and prices, you must think that there is some kind of catch. Can't be that good for such a low price. Unfortunately, it is so. While it makes some sacrifices, it's well within its price range and has a few extra features that put it ahead of the pack. Build quality is one of the things that puts it in the $30 range, but don't be too quick to judge. . It sits very comfortably around the ear and features a folding mechanism that reduces it to the size of the included carrying case without sacrificing structural integrity. The materials are soft and you can imagine wearing them for a long time without discomfort, feels a bit cheap. Fragile plastic, ear pads that feel a bit flimsy, metal that looks too much like a paper clip. I have a feeling that you will encounter some issues with heavy use. But they cost $30. So I don't see it as a disadvantage. They go above and beyond what you would expect and feel like they have life in them. There are also positive aspects. They sit very comfortably on the head. The materials are very soft and, as we have said, do not cause any discomfort with prolonged use. The headband also fits well and is made of soft material. The plastic around the speakers themselves is of good quality and they appear to be unbreakable (although I haven't tested this). Folding is a nice bonus. For headphones in this price range I would say the materials used are great. The sound quality drops a bit. For reference, I'm used to using the Sony MDR7506, which is the industry standard for sound reproduction. I'm a little disappointed in them. There is distortion when there is too much going on. It pulls you out of the experience until you get used to it. They obviously put a lot of effort into the bass, which they did really well. It's warm and clear there, and several times I actually had the feeling of being in a room and hearing something. The quality is more than reasonable for the price. This leads to the next point. Passive noise reduction, i.e. noise reduction without activated ANC. First, for such lightweight headphones, they've done a very good job of creating passive noise cancellation. Very good work. For example, they completely changed my morning routine. I usually wake up to a blaring TV and my roommate talking to me frustrated and tired. Now I can sit at my desk just a few feet from the TV and be in my own little world. I really have a feeling that I will find peace. I can't tell you how important this is to me. As far as active noise cancellation goes, I don't have much experience with other ANC headphones, so I don't have a frame of reference. However, this is a feature, it's a bonus when you pay $30. So whether it actually works or not doesn't matter in my ranking. Personally I can't tell a huge difference. If you turn it on, the sound becomes a bit tinny and the bass drops out. The instructions say it should work in about five seconds after turning it on. It does a little to block out small noises, but not by much. It has no effect on loud noises. So don't think you can sit next to an airplane engine and turn on your ANC. They added a few extras that seal the deal. A practical suitcase, especially when you are travelling. airplane converter. And my favorite, the aux cable. I have tested them when the batteries are low and the headphones are powered by the auxiliary cable. This is useful if you have a long flight or car journey ahead of you. That means you'll have headphones as long as your phone has a battery. In terms of battery life, I haven't used them enough to know if their 40 hour claim is true. Within two hours of use, the battery indicator didn't drop at all, so that's a good sign. I'll update this when I have a better idea. EDIT: I can safely say that it has excellent battery life. I've been using them for five days now and have only had to charge them once, not sure if that's the advertised 40 hours but they will almost certainly last longer than you need. In summary, these headphones play a very important role. As a disposable item for traveling by plane or car. And for thirty bucks, that's no problem. And will they be a suitable everyday driver? I think so. I can imagine how they will greatly increase your peace of mind on the subway. They are good looking when they walk and have a pretty good build. I would never suggest using them for any sort of recording or focused listening, but these are the other kind of headphones you want. Try her. I think you will be surprised.

Pros
  • Minimize unwanted noise
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other headphones
