Review on ๐ŸŽง 3M Peltor X2A Overhead Hearing Protection Ear Muffs by Brent Porter

Function via mode

I'm a bit obsessed with hearing protection. I lost my hearing a bit as a kid, so I want to protect what I have left. I play drums, shoot guns and enjoy loud live rock 'n' roll. I have foam earbuds, hi-fi earbuds (baffles), electronic headphones, thin or flat headphones, standard headphones and now these extreme headphones. If you're looking for something that offers moderate hearing protection...either because the noise you're dealing with isn't very loud (low volume), or you actually want to hear some noise through the muffs (e.g . while playing). drums to hear other band members, or when you're driving a lawnmower or using a chainsaw when you need situational awareness for safety) - these headphones can be overkill. These headphones are best suited for a catwalk or a very noisy production facility. They're pretty extreme and very, very quiet. I wouldn't wear them on the street or in the car. I will keep the pair I ordered and use them for school and the occasional indoor shooting range. They are well made and very comfortable. The memory foam ear pads are great and the overall streamlined shape keeps them from snagging on things. They seem durable and like they will last. I don't like that the acoustic foam in the earcup sticks out without an insole, but I can always blow the dust off with an air compressor. A couple more things worth noting: (1) They are a lighter gray than what is actually shown. Maybe it's just the lighting in the picture. (2) You are BIG. You look ridiculous. Again, they are meant for functionality, not fashion. (3) Because they are large, you may have trouble getting a good weld on your rifle stock when shooting. Protect your ears and encourage others to do the same!
