Good hard cycling shoes

I've been wearing a pair of Sandugo's to work for about a year. My first impression of them wasn't great, but I really liked them. Most of my issues with the shoe stemmed from the clunky feel of the SPD on my foot and the bulky Velcro strap that made it difficult to get in and out. These shoes removed all of the great features that I loved in the first pair with all of the things that I didn't like. There is no SPD, so the soles are flat and comfortable. No velcro, so easy to get in and out of. There's a little wobbly elastic for the laces, but I've replaced that with elastic laces to keep things from dangling. I use Alston MTB pedals, which are two rows of three nails on each side of the pedal. They dig into these shoes with so much force that I can put my foot on the pedal while waiting at a crosswalk or stop light. These are your basic CNC MTB non-slip pedals with extra long bolts. I like to wear them when I get to work, much better than the SPD version. I usually switch when I get to work (I ride my bike) but I often get sucked into things before I get a chance. It's nice to have shoes that are comfortable and a bit trendy. I recommend it for cycling.
