Review on πŸ”Œ CopperPeak 30ft Retractable Extension Cord Reel - Ceiling/Wall Mount - 16 Gauge - Red/Black by Robert Pearson

Mostly nice, but beware of the switch.

Overall this is a pretty good block that I would caution some to beware of the breaker. While it's true that I bought this unit for a variety of uses for which it's quite capable, one of my main uses is for detailing my vehicle and for that it leaves a lot to be desired. I use a combination of a Kranzle pressure washer and a MetroVac AirForce Master. Blaster blower. Kranzle isn't a problem at all, but this cord reel can't knock out the AirForce Master Blaster for more than 10 minutes or so. I had the same problem with a socket that had a similar "so-called" 15A switch. So if you draw a lot of current, this becomes problematic. To be honest, the Master Blaster can draw up to 18 amps, which means the typical 15 amp switches in my panel won't click while this 15 amp switch trips. My only two other cons are as follows. A. The default cable stop position is too aggressive, it leaves a lot of cable dangling and if you move it a bit you end up with an ugly scar on the cable where the gland used to be. A. The cable looks like cheap PVC, and it probably is. I would like the cable to be SJOOW wire with a rubber exterior, but that would probably add $25 to the price of the device. Generally pretty good then.

Pros
  • High scores for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
