Although this towel is 100% cotton, it's not the softest. I probably won't use it on my newborn but I will on a 3 year old. It also shrinks a bit after washing as it's no longer 35x35. After a first cold wash and tumble dry, the size is now 28.5" x 29". The animal on the hood is cute and dries pretty well, so it wicks moisture and does its job. After shrinking, it barely fits a 3-foot-2, 32-pound, 3-year-old. So I wouldn't mind using it in the summer but not in the winter when I like to pack it up after a shower as it's colder.
