You can use screws for all 8 holes!
Mine had male threaded holes (100mm) but the four screws that came with the plate only fit the holes and none of the screw sizes that came with my hand plate would fit external holes. I either have to use smaller bolts with nuts or try to find matching bolts for the outer holes. (If anyone could measure the size/pitch of the outer hole I'd appreciate the info!) Otherwise it's a good adapter plate and will work. It just annoyed me that it's two steps forward and one step back when I install this monitor.
